Nowadays, the infections due to carbapenem-resistant microorganism represent a global public health issue; microorganisms most frequently involved are gram-negative bacteria. This pose major threat because of their elevated mortality, lack appropiate antibiotics and its rapid spread arround world. The emergence carbapenemases, which type enzimes that hydrolize carbapenems, is resistance mecanism more involved. aim this literature review analyse epidemiology world ,overall, in Europe; as well microbiological aspects carbapenem restistant bateria: carbapenemases can be classified into different types detected by several laboratory methods detection laboratory.
